McDonald, Director Colorado Water Conservation Board State Centenia1 Building Suite 823, 1313 Sherman Denver, Colorado 80203 Dear Mr. McDonald: Transmitted herewith is a report entitled "Feasibility Study, Water Supply Improvement Project, City of Trinidad." The Feasibility Study outlines proposed improvements to the City of Trinidad's Municipal Water supply system. These improvements will upgrade and increase the water supply system; provide the current and future water supply require- ments not only for the City of Trinidad, but also for adjacent surban areas; en chance the utilization of existing water rights; and provide a greater degree of safety in meeting peak demands during prolonged drought periods. The Study covers two (2) phases, with Phase I being recommended for construction at this time. This Phase would involve expanding and upgrading the City's Water Treatment Plant, installing automatic control valves on the raw water transmission lines, and renovating the existing intake structures on North Lake and Monument Lake. Phase II, if needed, would be proposed for development within a 5-7 year period. This phase would consist of a pumping plant and a pipeline for the North Fork Diversion inlet to Monument Lake. The City of Trinidad requests favorable action by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in recommending construction and approval of the loan request as outlined in the Feasibility Study and accompanying documents.
