In 1976 there were several additional samples of
Town water analyzed for nitrates, and the results are also included in
Table IV-la, Apparently, there was some dilution of the high nitrate water
from the shallow wells with low nitrate water from the deep well as evidenced
by the samples taken on the east side of Town (Mel Ko~na's house, east end
of Town, and the east side garage).
As part of this study, all past water quality data was obtained for
the Nunn area from larious sources including the U.S.G,S, and the State
Depcrtment of Health. Tables IV-la and Ib present a summary listing of the
data which was obtained. Figure IV-1 shows the location of the wells for
which water quality data is available. A sampling program was undertaken
during the current study to obtain additional water quality data from wells
in the Nunn area, p3rticularly in regard to the concentration of nitrates,
The results of the tests and the locations of the sampling pOints are shown
in Table IV-lb and Figure IV-I, respectively. The location of the sampling
points where the nitrate concentration was less than the mandatory limit of
45 mg/l (as N03-) i; shown in Figure IV-I. As can be seen, the concentration
of nitrates in water from the shallow wells is much lower to the east and
northeast of Nunn, in the Lone Tree Creek drainage area. Typically, high
nitrate concentrations occur in the wells located in the Spring Creek
drainage area, but the level decreases northward up the basin from Nunn.

16
