Water Demands
1. Present Demands
The present water demands were determined by using data which
has been collected by the Town for the last few years. Most of the water
taps in the Town have meters and are read monthly from May to October and
then not again until the fOllowing May. To establish the current water
demands, the data for 1976 to 1977 was used, and the unmetered flows were
estimated. There is no way of directly determining the amount of water pumped
from the wells as the two shallow wells are not metered. T~e deep well,
however, is metered. From April 1976 to April 1977, 18.918 million gallons
were used according to the tap meter readings and an additional 1,682
million gallons were estimated as being consumed through the unmetered taps,
giving a total of 20.6 million gallons of water consumed during the year.
Table 111-2 presents the current and future projected water demands as
defined by this analysis. Based on a population of 300, the current average
daily per capita demand is 188 gpcd. This rate of consumption is somewhat high
when compared to other urban areas in northeastern Colorado, particularly
when there is essentially no industrial use and very little commercial use
in the Town. The monthly variation in flows was estimated based on typical
values of water use rates in the Denver Metro area. It was not possible to
obtain actual data for the Town due to a lack of measuring devices at the
pumps or water tank. However, the use during the summer months would be
considerably higher due to significant lawn watering, particularly,

~
