This will require replacing approximately 1550 feet of 4 inch pipe, 450 feet
of 6 inch pipe, and 300 feet of 8 inch pipe. There is currently about 550 feet of 12 inch
pipe in Fourth Avenue between Railroad Avenue and High Street that will be utilized.
The existing 12 inch line in 2nd Avenue (by the High School) will need to be extended
about 1200 feet to the proposed new tank).

8.4 Water Transmission Line

Conduct a special study of the 12-inch transmission line. The objective is to increase the
reliability of the pipeline. The study should include a corrosion analysis, transient analysis
and field verification of the line's overalI condition.

8.5 Conceptual Costs of Improvements

Costs of the major improvement packages have been developed. These costs are called
order-oj-magnitude estimates and are conceptual because they are generated from cost data on
similar projects, without benefit of fIxed scope or preliminary design. Conceptual cost estimates
generalIy have an expected accuracy of +50% to -30%. Refer to Table 12.

48
