The conduit <br />lTater and natural flovs 1'1ould be diverted from the creek by the exist- <br />ing CrystaJ. Valley ditch and potentiaJ. Fruitland Canal. A diversion <br />from Dyer Fork, a Crystal Creek tributary, vould be increased and the <br />additionaJ. diversion replaced to do,mstream users by conduit releases. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Fruitland Canal "ould extend north"est 22 miles from Crystal Creek. <br />The first 2.5 miles 'lOuld be a replacement and enlargement of the exist- <br />ing Fruitland ditch and the remainder vould be an extension. Three <br />major turnouts llOuld be made to serve existing facilities, and smaller <br />diversions "ould be made directly to project lands and to natural drain- <br />ages from llhich distribution laterals 1Tould branch. The first major <br />turnout 'lOuld be to the Cattlemens dUch nov heading on Crystal Creel, <br />and 1'1ould replace the existing headvorks and initiaJ. l~-mile section o:f <br />the ditch. The second turnout vould be to the Gould Feeder CanaJ., a <br />section o:f the Fruitland ditch vhich vould be renamed rold used to dis- <br />tribute vater to some project land and to convey project and nonproj- <br />ect ,rater to a drop leading to the existing Gould Reservoir on Iron <br />Creel,. Gould Reservoir, vhich nmT regulates flO1TS of Iron and Cr'Jstal <br />Creeks but \-Thich often does not :fill, 1'1ould provide some supplemental <br />regulation for project vater. The third turnout 1'1ould be to Castle <br />Canyon, a natural drainage "rhich llould be used as at present to convey <br />llater to Gould Canal some 9 miles from its heading at Gould Reservoir. <br />Eleven miles of canaJ. 1'1est of Castle Canyon llould be er~larged. The <br />enlargement llould be accoJllplished by the ca..'lal ownerS except for struc- <br />tures 1'1hich vould be replaced as a part of the project. <br /> <br />Laterals and drains llOuld be constructed as needed.
