Our firm is pleased to submit the following proposal as
- guide to the predesign engineering needs for the "ater system
of Starkville, Colorado.

KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM

Swrkville is a small t01.m of about 80 families located
just south of Trinidad. The current water supply system was
installed by the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad about 50
years age>. rne water sourceS is from springs on Clear Creek
located on the west slope of Fisher's Peak. VariOUS open pipe
ends are laid on the creek bottom to gather the flmv into a main
pipeline of cast iron which transports the flow several miles
downstream to S~arkvi lIe. The to,m has three storage tanks.
Because of the method of collection and no treatment facilitiE-S,
the to\.m ha s severe problems \.;i th tur bidi ty and bac teria.

in town, the system has a small diameter loop system
with service taps that at one time had metered flows. About
one YCCl r ago the to\.Jn dri' led a deep \o.'ell for supplemental
\'ii:ter, hO\vever, the well produces very little Ivater (.: 6 gpm)
an.! the quality in terms of TDS is high.
