I
I
I

D. RECOMMENDATIONS

We recommend the following work be considered to bring the dam up to current standards and to ensure
its safe operation in the future, The cost to conduct this work is $231,500,

I
I

1.

Construct a new spillway to pass the 50% PMP flood.

2.

Breach the dam and replace the outlet works,

3.

Raise the saddle dam to obtain proper freeboard.

I
I
I

4. Install a toe drain in the deep section of the dam.

Another option would be to phase the work and repair only what is needed with time, The dam is not
showing any obvious signs of structural distress at this time and the downstream section of the outlet
conduit is not deteriorated to the point of requiring repair. We believe the outlet is nearing its effective
life span however and plans should include replacement within the next five to ten years,

The minimum work required to satisfy the State Engineer's concerns at this time are as follows. The
estimated cost for this work is $71,000,

I

1.

Construct a new spillway to pass the 50% PMP flood.

2.

Raise the saddle dam to obtain proper freeboard,

I

E.
