The Town does have a water superintendent
to assist in the maintenance and operation of this system.

3. STORAGE FACILITIES

Storage for the Town consists of the two elevated tanks. One
elevated water storage tank of the system was erected in 1916.
The tank is a straight-wall, cone-roof steel reservoir with a
capacity of 40,000 gallons. The overflow elevation is 93 feet
above the ground surface and the height of the bowl is 18 feet,
4 1/2 inches.

The other elevated steel reservoir has a capacity of 75,000
gallons and was constructed approximately 10 years ago.

Water is pumped to the two elevated reservoirs directly from
the wells through the distribution system. Storage is
inadequate to meet minimum requirements for fire protection,
peak usage, emergencies and equalizing storage. The 40,000
gallon reservoir is in need of improvements, but because of
its age and condition should be phased out of use when alter-
nate and sufficient supplemental storage is made available.

II - 4
