The average montnly velocity is approximately 8 to 11 <br />miles per hour. The prevailing wind is from a southerly direction. <br /> <br />Based on precipitation and temperatures at the Denver airport, <br />normal annual precipitation is approximately 14.8 inches with <br />about 70% of this occurring in the spring and summer. April, May, <br />October, and November have relatively warm days and cold evenings. <br />The average evaporation measured in the non-freezing period from <br />Apri 1 to October in the peri od of 1961 to 1964 was 56.4 inches. <br />Actual evaporation exceeds this by several inches due to subliMation <br />of ice and snow and from liquid surfaces during portions of March <br />and November. The mean temperature established during a 30 year <br />period to 1964 by the United States Weather Bureau at the Denver <br />airport was 49.50F. The mean monthly temperature extremes during <br />this same period was a low of 28.50F. in January to a high of <br />72.goF. in July. <br /> <br />For the Prospect Valley area directly to the east of Hudson, the <br />climate is described as follows in a report on the Lost Creek <br />Drainage Basin prepared for the Colorado Ground i'Jater Commission. <br /> <br />'Considerable sunshine, light rainfall, low relative humidity <br />and moderate temperatures characterize the climate of the basin. <br />U. S.
