During the June 16, 1980 water quality analysis, the concentration of lead was
reported as 0;250 mg/l. The following month, the concentration was 0;027
mg/l, which is below the 0.050 mg/l standard. The high lead concentration of
0.250 mgll for the station upstream of Fort Coll ins is substantially higher
than subsequent analyses. An analysis of the remaining 47 monthly samples
indicates an average lead concentration of only 0.003 mgll. The 0.250 mg/l
concentration is 83 times greater than the average lead concentration;

The hi gh 1 ead val ue appears to be the result of an unknown i sol ated event
upstream, or equipment problems in the testing laboratory. For these reasons,
the 0,250 mgll val ue was not i ncl uded in Tabl e IV.ll.
