This feature will decrease treatment costs <br /> <br /> <br />as well as provide a safety factor'for the town in case of water pollu- <br /> <br /> <br />tion or flow interruption in the watershed, <br /> <br /> <br />\'Jater Treatment <br /> <br /> <br />The town must filter and treat the water for turbidity, Since the <br />water co:nes from a surface sourCe, it also must be chlorir-ated. The <br />treatment plant reCOlll'1lended in tl:lis study is a pressure nIter w.i.th <br />an autOlllatic alum feeder, automatic baokwash cycle and chlorination <br />before and after filtration. The treatment facility will provide ample <br />room for chemical storage and vu].l include a small laboratory for testing <br />the treated water for state ourification compliance. <br />Treated Water Storage <br />The existing water tank pl'OVes to be inadequateJ,y silled for the <br />present and for the future needs of the community, As a result of this <br />study, we find that the existing 100,000 gallon tank must be augmented <br />with another 100,000 gallon tank, Also, we recormnend that the existing <br />tank be sand blasted and then cOClted w.i.than epoxy resin a minimum of <br />ho mil thickness on the interior surface. This surface w.l.ll add many <br />years to the life of the tank, <br />Water Distr:i. bution <br />The water lines in town are all four inches or less ;in size. The <br />minimum size needed for adequate fire protection is six inches, The <br />results of this study indicate a need for 13,650 feet of :nevi six inch <br /> <br />- 3 - <br />
