TASK NO.: 8
RFP CROSS-REFERENCE:
Step 2, Item (4)

STAFF MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE:
Hydraulics Specialist
Preliminary Designs Specialist

TASK TITLE:

Identification of New Facilities Necessary for Transbasin Diversions.

RATIONALE:

The new facilities necessary to accomplish transbasin diversion of the excess
water supplies available to the Overland Ditch and Reservoir system to the
Surface Creek basin requires that the necessary new facilities be identified
by means of conventional reconnaissance level map and field route studies
and appraisal level layouts and design of alternative conveyance systems
between the existing Overland Ditch and Surface Creek.

METHODOLOGY:

1. Perform reconnaissance level map location studies to select a feasible route
or routes for extension of the Overland Ditch from East Leroux Creek or
intermediate point to Surface Creek.

2. Evaluate whether any gravity or pumping pipeline would be a practical
alternative to extension of the Overland Ditch.

3. Prepare a large-scale location map of the selected route on a base prepared
by photo-reproduction of 1:24,000 scale USGS topographic sheets.

4. Make a field reconnaissance investigation of the tentative route selected in
Steps I and 2 above to confirm the practicability of the route and to identify
any special situations to be recognized in the layout and design.

5. Perform preliminary hydraulic designs to determine the optimum sizes of the
various sections and structures of the selected most feasible transbasin
conveyance system.

PRODUCTS:

I. Location map of the most feasible route for extension of the Overland Ditch
to Surface Creek.

2. Tabulation and description of the new facilities comprising the selected
optimum transbasin conveyance system.

Il-16

Revised 9/23/1985
