TASK NO.: 7
RFP CROSS-REFERENCE:
Step 2, Item (3)

STAFF MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE:
Hydraulics Specialist
Dam Evaluation Specialist
System Operation Studies Specialist

TASK TITLE:

Identification of Modifications of the Existing Overland Ditch and Reservoir
System Necessary to Accommodate Transbasin Diversions.

RATIONALE:

Enlargements and improvements of the existing Overland Ditch and Reservoir
required to accommodate the excess flows available for transbasin diversion
to the Surface Creek basin need to be determined by means of integrated
analyses of the hydraulic design of the ditch and the operation of the
reservoir.

METHODOLOGY:

I. Prepare a large-scale location map of the existing Overland Ditch and
Reservoir system on a base prepared by photo-reproduction of 1:24,000 scale
USGS topographic sheets.

2. Identify the physical characteristics of the ditch and reservoir and confirm
their condition, capacities and other characteristics by field inspection.

3. Perform a hydraulic analysis of the existing ditch system to determine the
size of ditch necessary to carry the system demands plus the excess flows
identified in Task No.6 available for diversion to the Surface Creek basin.

4. Using an available reservoir operation computer program, operate the Over-
land Reservoir model to determine the live capacity required to regulate the
optimum system supplies plus the estimated excess supplies available for
transbasin diversion.

PRODUCTS:

1. Location map of existing Overland Ditch and Reservoir system.

2. Tabulation" of present actual operating capacities of components of existing
system.

3. List of enlargements and improvements of components of the existing system
required to accommodate the estimated excess supplies available for trans-
basin diversion.

II-I 5

Revised 9/23/1985
