(MWE) was hired by the District in July, 1999 to conduct a preliminary <br />investigation of the District's water resources at part of the Southern High Plains Designated Groundwater <br />Basin. A report summarizing this investigation was completed by MWE and presented to the District in <br />September 1999, At the District's annual meeting on January 10, 2000 the District membership voted to <br />accept the recommendations in the study and pursue additional studies of the District's water resources. The <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board has made additional assets available to fund the investigation to conduct <br />a more detailed study to assess the current condition of the ground water resources within the District (see <br />Table I). The District has selected McLaughlin Water Engineers, Ltd. of Denver, Colorado to prefonn this <br />study. <br /> <br />GOALS OF STUDY <br /> <br />The goals for Part I of the District study are to: <br /> <br />L Confirm the accuracy oithe State Engineer's Office well data base. <br /> <br />2. Detennine the relative depths of the tops of the four primary aquifers and associated depths <br />of screened perforation intervals ofwells to confirm th~ir source(s). <br /> <br />3.
