"'

. .",.

.

.

2. Review the well logs listed in the Beck Report and obtain and review well logs from
selected water wells drilled in the area and other sources such as oil field logs to determine
the relative depths of the four primary aquifers underlying the District. A review of the
depths of the screened perforation intervals to confirm their source will also be undertaken.

Product: a.
b.

The maps in the original Beck report will be revised and updated.
A hard copy and electronic copy of wells and their perforated intervals
and interpreted sources will be developed.

3, Evaluate the locations of wells in the existing monitor well network to insure representative
water levels in the aquifers are being measured.

Product:

Recommended alternative network of wells identified in hard copy and
electronic format will be developed.

4. Obtain and utilize LANDSAT imagery to identify irrigated lands within the district and
associated locations of wells from Task I with area water level changes.

Product:

An overlay of the LANDSAT imagery for a selected period in 1999 will
be overlain on the well location map and water level change map(s).

5. Confirm water use in the District by actual measurement or approximation to enable the
impact of historic pumpage to be quantified for future projection of declines. Sources of
information may include electrical power records, and natural gas consumption records,
and calculated water demand using the Blaney-Criddle method with climatological input
data from local sites.

Product:

A summary of water use estimates relating use to areas will be developed,

6. .Create digital maps to show the relative locations of the four main aquifers as "layer" and
show the water level change(s) in each of the aquifers. Information from both Kansas and
Oklahoma may be included,

7, Review and analyze available information relating to the status of abandoned wells to
determine the potential for improperly abandoned wells in the District. Sources for tills
information may include the county assessors office, the State Engineers Office and the
Water Quality Control Division of the Colorado Department of Health.

8. Data obtained from all sources may be verified with District representatives to confirm
its accuracy and relevance.

9. MWE will use the District's Global Positioning Satellite data for verifying well locations
as necessary.

3

P:\1999\99.028\OOlOO\wp\Pan I Scope of Servicea.wpd
