<br />2 <br /> <br />The supply 4" C.I.P. line comes from the south up <br />Raton Creek to a major storage tank about ~ mile Irom the <br />town limits. This tank has about 200,000 gallon capacity. <br />The tank has no top cover and is in need of some welding <br />to repair leaks near the top of the tank. <br />From this tank the supply source continues up Raton <br />Creek along the railroad tracks to the Confluence of Clear <br />Creek, see Figure 2 and 3. At the Clear Creek junction, <br />a valve house and a 196,000 gallon storage tank was installed <br />by the town. In addition, a well was dug within about 20 <br />feet of this storage tank to an approximate depth of <br />140 feet. It is reported this well pumps about 6 gpm <br />when used in the operation of the system. <br />The collection line continues up Clear Creek for about <br />4 miles to the Marion Flat Spring. The collecting line is <br />4 inch cast iron pipe with leaded joints. <br /> <br />CLIMATE <br />The climate in Starkville is comparable to Trinidad <br />which shows an annual mean temperature of 51.70 F; growing <br />season of about.216 frost-free days; annual rainfall of 13 inches, <br />with average snowfall of about 39 inches. <br />Data obtained from the U.S. Weather Bureau in Denver. <br /> <br />7 <br />
