We would, also, like extend our
appreciation for the help you gave us in preparing the needed documents prior to the meeting.

The grant will help us greatly in accomplishing the work we have longed envisioned for the
Alamosa River. We feel honored that the CWCB has partnered in a river which for thirty years
has seen such abuses as channel straightening, de-watering, and acid mine pollution. These
problems have longed plagued us economically and environmentally. Already, we have began
the process of stabilizing the ri ver channel and the inigation structures. With your help, this
river, which has been often classified "a dead river", has a chance to become the viable river it
once was when our fore-fathers used it.

We understand you and the CWCB will be in Alamosa during the month of May. We would like
to extend an invitation to you and the CWCB to come see the Alamosa River. We would like to
show you the project and share with you the plan and vision we have for the future. Again we
sincerely thank you.

i cerely YOu~

], hn Shawcroft
