I
I
I

c. Release through Olympus Tunnel to the CHFC, then through the
river outlet at the BTPP to the Big Thompson River for diversion
through the Loveland Pipeline.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

d. Release through Olympus Tunnel to the CHFC and then to Green Ridge
Glade Reservoir.

The City's direct flow and Transfer Decree water may be diverted from the
Big Thompson River by gravity flow through the Loveland Pipeline into the
City's treatment plant. Alternatively, City-owned ditch water may be
diverted to Green Ridge Glade reservoir for storage and later use.
However, the only means by which City-owned ditch water can be delivered to
the Green Ridge Glade reservoir from the Big Thompson River is through the
CBT Project's Dille Tunnel and the CHFC.

The City may divert water accrued through ownership in irrigation companies

directly to storage. However, under the terms of the Transfer Decree, the

City is required to use or release 13 percent of the volume of transferred

water diverted to storage. This release must be made during the winter

following the period during which the water was originally diverted. The

releases may first be diverted through the City's treatment plant and used

for municipal purposes prior to final release to the Big Thompson River.

The City's raw water supplies were allocated to meet the Design Conditions
demand (i.e. 21,261 ac-ft/yr) in the following manner:

I
I
I

1. Vater available under the City's direct-flow rights and Transfer
Decree are diverted directly to the treatment plant, up to the
City's demand. Any remaining waters are then diverted to Green
Ridge Glade for storage, subject to the limitations of the Transfer
Decree and capacity constraints of the CHFC. (The determination of
capacity constraints in the CHFC is described in Section 3-2.)

I
I
I
I

2. If required storage releases (to meet the 13% requirement described
above), direct-flow water, and Transfer Decree water are not
sufficient to meet demand, CBT water is used next.

3. If the demand is still not satisfied, Vindy Gap water is next used.

4. If all of the above supplies are insufficient, water stored in
Green Ridge Glade is used to meet any remaining demand.

3-3
