If
necessary change a model to improve simulation of
observed conditions.

III. Obtain data concerning present extent of ground water re-
charge.

A. Cooperate with and obtain data from canal and ditch
companies to develop estimates of leakage from structures
and quantify recharge to unconfined and confined aqui-
fers.

B. Canvass areas served by major canal and ditch companies
and prepare estimates of numbers of recharge structures
and estimates of recharge from these structures.

IV. Publish a report using data collected from the ground water
recharge sites and extent of present ground water recharge to
provide a better understanding of the dynamics of ground water
recharge in the San Luis Valley. The value of performing an
integrated water management plan for the San Luis Valley will
also be analyzed.

WATER RIGHTS AND COOPERATION FROM CANAL AND DITCH COMPANIES

Water rights to be utilized by San Luis Valley Water Conser-
vancy District (SLVWCD) in this project will be rights owned by Rio
Grande Canal Water Users Association, San Luis Valley Irrigation
District and Monte Vista Canal Water Users Association. In all
cases, the water users will retain all ownership and management
rights and responsibilities associated with the use of their water.
Included in Attachment II are copies of memorandum of agreement
between the canal companies and SLVWCD. Also included in Attach-
ment II are copies of recharge/under ground water storage rights
owned by the canal companies.

3
