.

.

OBJECTIVE 1: Restore Riparian Health.
Apply grazing management practices in riparian areas as dictated by each participant's "Individual
Grazing Management Plan". The overall success of the project is dependent upon the future
management of the stream corridor and the health of the vegetation of the banks and the riparian
area. Planting vegetation and grazing management is a key component. The L-DPA states that
vegetation planting and grazing management is a large portion of the participant's in-kind
contribution. The preferred plan is for three years of deferred grazing followed by short-term grazing
in spring or in the fall. Fencing will be installed along the riparian buffer zones.

TASK 1: Coordinate development of individualized grazing management plans with landowners
and federal agencies involved with range management. (NRCS)

This involves;
Designing a grazing management plan which includes 17 landowners and approx. 200 acres
of riparian area that actually borders the river corridor. Meadows and other land may be
involved in long term grazing strategies. The NRCS will encourage landowners to
participate in other programs which are offered by their agency.

Product: Grazing management.
Units & Cost: (based on NRCS and local prices)
Management alan to be developed by NRCS along with 17 landowners and approx. 200
acres for three years or more; $6,666.
