~;

.

.

Page Five Minutes #606

November lO, 1993

to Ute. Currently, our water withdrawals from the tailrace during a
call on the Colorado River is limited to the amount of demands on
our system. This means that, if the power plant is running at 30
cfs and we have a demand of l5 cfs, the excess l5 cfs has to bypass
Ute's pipeline. The BuRec thinks this M & I right might allow us to
take some of that water. Mr. Stockton is not convinced of this.

The Manager noted that the option of privatizing is no longer
available to the BuRec. He feels they have been directed to obtain
as many water rights as possible from local irrigators. We do have
an interest in M & I water if they can deliver it, since this would
stop the need for Ute to purchase ranches for water or water rights
for some time.

Counsel said that, as he understands it, it is a refill right
from Vega.

The Superintendent of Treatment & Source pointed out that the
BuRec can deliver 50 cfs through the tailrace, however, the District
is not physically able to take a full 50 cfs, at this time.

Both Counsel and the Manager recommended at least pursuing this
opportunity.

The consensus was to send the BuRec a letter indicating the
District's interest in M & I water, if it is available.

UPCOMING MEETINGS

Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce: Business After Hours will be
held November 30, 1993, at the Daily Sentinel. This is in
celebration of their lOOth Anniversary. Reservations should be
phoned to Bob Stewart at the bank. There is no charge.

Northside Tank: Mr. Jaynes asked if this tank was still empty. The
Manager reported this tank is now in use. He went on to explain
that the Redlands Tank and the Orchard Mesa tank are down, by
design. The Treatment Plant and Distribution are experimenting with
the tanks to determine the proper operation for good circulation.

1993 AUDIT

The Manager reminded the Board of the direction given Staff at
the October meeting to bid the 1993 Audit. He indicated that the
Board did not specify if that should also include the Retirement
Trust Fund. This fund was audited when the change of trustees
occurred July 1, 1993. If this is included in the bid, we will be
