.',

~

.

..

Page Three Minutes #606

November lO, 1993

GOLDEN ACRES WATER COMPANY

The Assistant Manager explained that this was one of the few
independent water companies left in the District. He displayed a
map showing the properties involved for the Board's information.
They have requested that the District absorb their company into the
District. We now bill them on a bulk basis. Ute has lines in the
adjacent areas which we can use to access this area.

Mr. Stockton attended an informational meeting of the property
owners in Golden Acres and indicated the following items to them:
l) we would require that all services be metered (which they are),
2) we would require individual meters on each residential unit, such
as duplexes, etc. (they indicated there are none), 3) and that we
would not be prepared to compensate them for their water system,
however, in all likelihood we would be prepared to assume their
company and convert them to a direct customer billing. He requested
Board direction.

There are 40 taps and the investigation by the Acting
Superintendent of Transmission & Distribution shows that the meters
now there would be acceptable. The lines are galvanized and very
old / and Mr. Stockton indicated to the property owners that Ute
would be upgrading these lines in the future for everyone's benefit.
At that time, we might expect them to pay for new service lines into
their residences.

During discussion, the point was made that no money is involved
in this transaction from either side. The consensus was to proceed
with absorbing the Golden Acres Water Company.

MONTHLY REPORTS TO THE BOARD

COLORADO RIVER PUMP STATION REHAB

The Superintendent of Treatment & Source reported that he is in
the process of making changes to the preliminary plans submitted by
Montgomery Watson Engineers (since the plans were drawn up for lS
MGD) and he will be returning those to the engineers soon.

Both he and Mr. Ohm have made an on site visit to determine
necessary changes. The upper intakes into the pump station will be
extended to prevent silting; the surge tanks will be integrated with
the upper and lower backwash system; and, the pumps will be
retrofitted using treated water for lubrication and install soft
starters.

GRAND JUNCTION LAWSUIT APPEAL DECISION

Counsel reported the decision from the Court of Appeals was
received on October 2l, 1993. He referred the Board to the letter
