The design should incorporate
trails and gently sloping banks which will allow rescue workers reasonable
bank access. A pOOl/drop concept should allow a floater to swim to the
bank upon dropping into one of the pools.

STRUCTURAL STABILITY FOR FULL RANGE OF FLOODS
The 10o-year flood on the South Platte River at Union Avenue is B,OOO cfs.
A t this discharge in the river, as well as for lesser flows, the river
by-pass boat chute discharge must be defined. Appropriate design criteria
should be selected for the boat chute to minimize boat chute damage such as
wash out of large rocks and/or weirs which are permanent features of the
structure. The boat chute design will not cause structural damage to the
existing system of related facilities. Design criteria selected will also
be based on consideration of expected frequency of damage.

ATTRACTIVENESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENHANCEMENT
Implementation of the boat by-pass facility should provide aesthetic and
environmental enhancement of the area.
