Geotechnical and Geophysical Investigations <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The geotechnical and geophysical program was designed to collect <br />the maJ\imum amount of information on subsurface conditions wi thin <br />reasonable time and cost constraints. Seepage at the Santa Maria Dam <br />is confi ned predomi nantly to the right abutment groi n area of the mai n <br />embankment, with minor seepage noted at the downstream toe of the <br />embankment at the maximum section. Figure V-I shows variation in <br />seepage flow rate versus reservoir gage height. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />There is evi dence that at reservoi r 1 evel s approachi ng decreed <br />storage levels, a localized seep occurs on the left abutment of the <br />west dike. This possible seep apparently is through the uppermost ten <br />feet of the embankment or abutment. The geotechnical an<! geophysical <br />investigation was not directed at this area since the remedy is rela- <br />tively simpl e. <br /> <br />1. Method of Investigation <br /> <br />The geotechnical and geophysical investigation consisted of an <br /> <br /> <br />integrated program to collect information on subsurface conditions.
