Water Demands <br /> <br />Water demands for irrigated agriculture within the San Luis Valley <br /> <br /> <br />were developed from infonnation obtained from the U.S. Soil <br /> <br />Conservation Service and the Colorado Climate Center. <br /> <br />1. Development of Water Requirements <br /> <br />Monthly consumptive use charts for crops grown in Zone 6 (Monte <br />Vista area) have been developed by the SCS (23) and are shown in <br /> <br />Figures IV-l thrugh IV-5. These crops are: alfalfa; spring grain; <br /> <br />pasture grasses; potatoes; and small vegetables. <br /> <br />Pre-i rri ga ti on <br /> <br />requirements, not included in the charts, were included in the crop <br /> <br />irrigation requirements used in this study.
