<br />I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Appendix A: Invitation to Bid <br />Invitation to Bid on a 2200' Continuous Core for the Denver Museum of Natural History <br /> <br />The following specifications pertain to an approximately 2200 foot continuous core to be <br />obtained frorn near Kiowa in western Elbert County Colorado. The location for the <br />proposed weIl is on the Elbert County Fairgrounds immediately north of the town of <br />Kiowa, about 35 miles SE of Denver. The core is to be obtained for research purposes <br />and complete recovery is critical. <br /> <br />The lithologies to be cored are Upper Cretaceous to Lower Tertiary sandstones and <br />mudstones deposited in non-marine environments. The formations are termed the <br />Dawson Arkose, Denver Formation, Laramie Formation and Fox Hills Sandstone. These <br />are comprised of arkosic sandstones and mudstones. The rnudstones are frequently <br />bentonitic. No oil or gas resource is anticipated. Sandstones are water-bearing and are <br />valuable aquifers in the Denver Basin. <br /> <br />Scope of work for bids: <br />1. Mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from drill site. <br />2. Drill rig set up and tear down. <br />3. Furnish and install permanent surface casing. <br />4. Continuous core of entire succession from grass roots to the base of the Fox Hills <br />Sandstone at an estimated depth of2200 feet. <br />Option One: HQ Core <br />Option Two: PQ Core <br />5. Removal of core steel and preparation of hole for geophysical logging. <br />6. Standby during logging process. <br />7. Abandonment of borehole with bentonite cement grout. <br />8. Provide adequate lighting and safety measures (including temporary fencing around <br />drill rig and mud pit). <br />9. Provide core/drill bits. <br />10. Provide Portapotties for drill rig staff. <br />11. Excavate lII1d line mud pit to commence project and dispose ofIeftover mud and <br />reclaim mud pit at the end of project. <br />12. Provide a separate bid to install, and operate equipment to sample groundwater frorn <br />four different depth intervals in the core hole. Options include piezometers, drill <br />stern tests, or packers. <br />13. Provide a separate bid for PVC piping to store the core. This should include an outer <br />PVC pipe, and inner half-round PVC pipe, and plastic liner. <br />Please also provide a daily rate for your standby costs. <br /> <br />Please note that we request your bid cost for two different bit sizes and separate bids for <br />different water sampling scenarios and core storage piping. <br />Submit bid to: <br />Kirk R.
