However, it was assumed that the <br />culverts and other cross-drainage structures under the 1-70 roadway <br />as well as the South Rifle road underpass would permit the flood to <br />essentially cover the same area as defined in the flood study. <br /> <br />The river intake structure would be designed to be overtopped and <br />submerged in event of a flood. The operating floor of the river <br />pumping station and grit chamber would be set above the 100-year <br />flood level. The water treatment plant and the treated water pumping <br />station would be floodproofed by filling the site to raise the surround- <br />ing grade above the lOO-year flood level and protecting the embankment <br />from erosion, <br /> <br />V-8 <br />
