PROJECT DESCRIPTION

I, GENERAL INFORMATION

The South Rifle Division of the West Divide Project consists of
the municipal water supply to be provided by the West Divide
Project to the unincorporated area south of the City of Rifle and
within the West Divide Water Conservancy District boundaries.
Attempts by parties interested in development of the area to obtain
waters from the City of Rifle's water system have been unsuccessful
to date. Therefore, the West Divide Project has been asked to in-
vestigate the feasibility of providing such a supply. The project
which is the subject of this report is the first stage of that water
supply system.

For conciseness and to avoid confusion, the various entities involved
may at times be referred to in this report as follows:

The West Divide Water Conservancy District's proposed first stage

central-type municipal water supply, treatment, and storage system
supplied by surface waters diverted directly from the Colorado River.
