REHABILITATION WORK REQUIRED Problems and deficiencies in Coon Creek Reservoirs #1 and #2 were initially outlined in a letter of November 23, 1982 from the state Engineer's Office to the Coon Creek Reservoir Company (See Appendix). The letter initially restricted water level of Coon Creek #1 to a level 5 ft. below the spillway crest elevation, and water level of Coon Creek #~ to a level 3 ft. below the crest of the spillway. Based on the state Engineer inspections and our observations, the major rehabilitation work required on the dams was determined to be as follows: ~ Creek Reservoir ~ 1. Reconstruction of the main embankment to prevent slumping. 2. Control of seepage through the dam embankment. 3. Enlargement and improvement of the spiliway structure. 4. Improvements to the outlet works (bar rack, erosion control, and pipe extension). 5. Placement of riprap for control of erosion on the upstream side of the dam embankment. Coon Creek Reservoir ~ 1. Control of seepage through the embankment structure. 2. Maintenance work on the embankment and control gate. I I I I I I I 3. Regrading work and erosion control mats in the spillway. 4. Installation of a flow measurement structure. In the fall of 1984, the Reservoir Company completed several work items required by the State Engineer on Coon Creek Reservoir #1. This included removal of brush and logs from the spillway, and cutting of live trees and brush on the embankment. No other repair work has been done to Coon Creek #1 since that time. In the fall of 1988, the state Dam inspector recommended that the Reservoir Company repair the main seep in Coon Creek Dam #2. This was done by excavating the embankment in the area of the seep and by replacement wi th acceptable compacted material. The spillway was also cleaned out and minor earth work was completed on the spillway channel. Following this 4
