Combinations of the above.

Based on the results of the field investigation, a partial, temporary remedial design may
be developed for implementation prior to the 1993 irrigation season. .Ihe~temporary' /
. design is likely to consist of backfilling and capping of the existing sinkholes. '

2.5 TASK 5 . PRELIMINARY DESIGN

WCC will develop a preliminary design for the preferred remedial alternative. This
design will be developed based on the available subsurface data and will be supported
by preliminary technical analysis of the flow regime through and beneath the
embankment. The design work will include the following items:

. Selection of location, configuration, and dimensions of remedial action
components
· Seepage analyses
· Material-selection and mix designs
· Evaluation of constructability

We anticIpate that the preliminary design will be presented on three drawings as
su=ari2ed below:

· Embankment Plan and Field Investigation Map
· Embankment and Geologic Sections
· Details

The design work will be documented in the form of technical memorandums and
calculation briefs which will be incorporated in the project files and accessed as
necessary for feasibility study report preparation.

2.6 TASK 6 - CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATE

WCC will derive a construction cost estimate for the design based on current regional
and other pertinent factors influencing the overall construction cost.
