The
purpose of the review is to familiarize WCC with previous work performed at the site.
This will prevent unnecessary duplication during the investigation and data collection
effort and will thereby minimize the length and cost of the investigation.

The review will concentrate on available information concerning the configuration,
condition and component material properties of the embankment and dam foundation.
While significant gaps are believed to exist in the available database, especially
concerning critical embankment and foundation material properties, we understand that
valuable data from earlier investigations will be available. In addition, existing geologic
maps and air photos of the site will be obtained and evaluated. Areal joint patterns and
fault traces will be delineated and interpreted where possible and an evaluation of their
significance to sinkhole development will be made.

The proposed field investigation program will be refined based on the review of existing
information to maximize the effectiveness and minimize the cost of the subsurface
exploration.

2.2 TASK 2 - FIELD INVESTIGATION

The purpose of this task is to provide sufficient data concerning the configuration,
condition and component material properties of the embankment and foundation to
provide a firm technical foundation for the development of a suitable, cost effective

92D227P!P227 06-2~-92(IO,17pm)IPRO/~4

-3-
