I

II
I

I

The Porter Reservoir No.1, Porter Reservoir No.4, Clark
Reservoir, and White's Cabin Reservoir were purchased in 1964
from Carl B. White. All of the Porter reservoirs are located
at the headwaters of Oak Creek above the Dirty George Creek
Aqueduct. The Porter Reservoir No. 1 has absolute decrees for
201.76 acre-feet. The Porter Reservoir No. 4 has an absolute
decree for 38.7 acre-feet. The Porter Reservoir No. 3B has an
absolute decree for 15.0 acre-feet, but there is some confusion
with respect to the location of this reservoir. The Porter Reservoir
No. 4B has an absolute decree for 14.5 acre-feet, but its exact
location is also not clear. The total absolute decrees in the
Porter reservoirs amount to 269.96 acre-feet.

I

I

I

I

The Clark Reservoir
feet. This reservoir is
Aqueduct on Coal Mine Gulch

has an
located
which is

absolute decree for 39.45
above the Dirty George
tributary to Oak Creek.

acre-
Creek

I

White's Cabin Reservoir has a conditional decree for 19.1
acre-feet. The reservoir is located on an unnamed tributary of Dirty
George Creek above the Dirty George Creek Aqueduct. In 1970, the City
of Delta contemplated increasing the existing small dam and enlarging
the reservoir to hold the conditional decree. Also in 1970, City
Manager Kistler reported that a survey was being made to determine a
logical location for a transfer ditch to convey water from this
reservoir to the Dirty George Creek pipeline. The conditional status
has been continued by the State Engineer to August 1978.

I

I

I

All interest in special use permits, plans, and specifications
for a stabilization reservoir identified as Sage Brush Park Reservoir
was also purchased with the sale of the White Ranch in 1964. In 1965,
work at the site for this reservoir, officially identified on the
Plans as the White Stabilization Reservoir, was completed. This
reservoir is also known as the Little White Control Reservoir. The
site is located adjacent to the Dirty George Creek Aqueduct just
below the junction with the Doughspoon Aqueduct. The reservoir is
confined by dams which are approximately 9~ feet high and has a
maximum capacity of approximately 15 acre-feet. The reservoir is
located on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

I

I

I

It was originally intended to use the White Stabilization
Reservoir only for irrigation purposes. There is little or no
surface drainage into the reservoir basin but the Delta County
Ditch passes through the site. Original plans indicated all storage
was to be obtained from the irrigation ditch. Apparently diversions
from several of the City's water rights are now being regulated by
the reservoir since diversions to and from the Dirty George Creek
Aqueduct are nOw possible. As there was no intent to store any water

I

I

I

I

II - 20

I
