<br />Draft 4 <br /> <br />7.2 S,pF!ci fic Standards. In all areas of special flood hazards <br />where base flood elevation data has been provided, such as <br />Zone lIS, the following provisions are rEquired: <br /> <br />7.2.1 <br /> <br />Residential Construction. New construction and <br />substantial ill'Q?rovanent of any residential structure <br />shall have the lowest floor, including basement, <br />elevated to or above base flood elevation. <br /> <br />Require within any NJ and All Zone on the FIRM map <br />that all new construction and substantial <br />improvements of residential structures have the <br />lowest floor, including basement, elevated above the <br />highest adjacent grade as high as the depth nllllber <br />specified in feet on the FIRM map, and at least two <br />feet if no depth nllllber is specified. Also rEquire <br />within Zones NJ and All, adEquate drainage J:5ths <br />around structures on slopes, to guide flood waters <br />around and EMay from proposed structures. <br /> <br />7.2.2 <br /> <br />Non-residential Constolction. New construction and <br />substantial ill'Q?rovanent of any commercial, <br />industrial, or other non-residential structure shall <br />either have the lowest floor, including basement, <br />elevated to the level of the base flood elevation; <br />or together with attendant utility and sanitary <br />facilities, shall: <br /> <br />a. Be floodproofed so that below the base flood <br />level the structure is watertight with walls <br />substantially impermeable to the J:5Bsage of <br />water; and, <br /> <br />b. Have structural components caJ;5ble of resisting <br />hydrostatic and hydrodynamic loads and effects <br />of buoyancy; and, , <br /> <br />c. Be certified by a registered professional <br />engineer or architect, licensed in the State of <br />Colorado, that the standards of this subsection <br />are satisfied. <br /> <br />Require within any AD and All Zone on the FIRM map <br />that all new construction and substantial <br />improvanents of non-residential tTI:e: <br /> <br />a. Have the lowest floor, including basement, <br />elevated above the highest adjacent grade at <br />least as high as the depth nllllber specified in <br />feet on the FIRM map, and at least two feet if <br />no depth number is specified; and, <br /> <br />Page 14 <br />
