<br />FPR 216 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />July 7, 1983 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Flood <br />Plain Information, South Platte River and Pawnee Creek, Sterling, <br />Colorado," dated September, 1978, was prepared by the United <br />States Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha Distr ict, which descr ibes <br />flood flows on the South Platte River and the Pawnee overflow; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board. as requested <br />by the Board' of County commissioners of Logan County, by resolu- <br />tion adopted December 5, 1979, and numbered 147, approved and <br />designated the floodplains described in said report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS,_ a new report entitled "Flood Plain Information and <br />Drainage Plan for Sand Creek and the Pawnee Creek Overflow at <br />Sterling, Colorado, " dated May, 1983, has been prepared by <br />~ Charles F. Leaf and Resource Consultants, Inc.; ,and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said new report describes and outlines the flood- <br />plain data and information for the storm and floodwater run of f <br />channels or basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sterling, Colorado, and the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Logan County have requested the Co'lorado <br />Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain <br />areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />1973, requires <br />the prevention <br /> <br />Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in <br />of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 3l-23-30l and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or <br />along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after <br />designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board; and <br /> <br />128 <br />res/2l6 <br />
