9. USE OF 1/0 UNITS

1. Input to this program occurs through Fortran input statements
of the form READ 10, A,B,C. Thus the input file should be set
up for the default card reader unit.

2. Output from the program occurs either through Fortran output
statements of the form PRINT 20, A,B,C or WRITE(6.30)D,E,F.
Thus the output from Unit 6 and the default output unit should
both be directed to the line printer.

3. Optional punched output of storage-outflow data for stream rout-
ing occurs in the program through Fortran output statements of
the form WRITE(7,40)A,B,C. Thus output from Unit 7 should be
directed to the card punch.

4. Scratch tape (disk) Units 91 - 96 are used by the program.
Units 91 - 94 are used by various options during the execu-
tion of the program. Also a file is generated on Unit 95 that
contains all results as the job processes. This file on Unit
95 is used as a basis for generating summary output tables by
the routines SUMPO and FLDHAZ. SUMPO uses Unit 95 for input
and produces tables on Units 91 - 94 and 96, which are later
rewound and copied to the line printer file (Unit 6). FLDHAZ
uses Unit 95 for input and produces output directly to the line
printer file.

5. Scratch Unit 96 may be eliminated completely if desired. This
may be done by decreasing the magnitude of variable NSCRT in
BLOCK DATA by one (e.g., changing NSCRT from 6 to 5). This
will decrease by one the number of separate summary tables that
can be generated by SUMPO (from 5 to 4). Similarly if additional
1/0 units are added. a greater number of separate summary tables
can be generated by SUMPO.

6. The actual scratch unit numbers used are set in BLOCK DATA.
The scratch units (101 through 106), can be changed to
other designations consistent with their use, if necessary.

7. Record 1 ength for each scra tch unit is given below:
Units Type Maximum Record Length
91 Formatted 132 cha racters
92 Formatted 132 characters
93 Formatted 132 characters
94 Formatted 132 characters
95 Un formatted 100 real words
96 Formatted 132 characters

29
