4.2

4.2 Model Availabilitv and User Access
The MUDFlOW model was designed by Dr. ,J. S. O'Brien during the period from
September 1988 to March 1989. It was developed for l'outing mud flows in two-
dimensions over an unconfined flow path as an extension of the research work
conducted at Colorado State University. The routing a190rithm was adapted from a
clear-water routing model (DHM) developed by Ikomadka and Yen (1987). The sediment
flow-routing subroutine, new channel-flood pl<lin interface, the upstream watershed
subroutine and the numerous modifications ,1I1d revisions to original DHM were
copyrighted by Dr. J. S. O'Brien (1989). ThE! model allplicat"ion to Cornet Creek,
Telluride, Colorado, and many of the modifications to the model were conducted
through the auspices and sponsorship of Simons, li & Associates, Inc.
