ARIlY ENGlNE2RS REPORT (COlIT ID) <br /> <br />provided at Castlewood Reservoir, and that sale of this water should <br /> <br />yield a revenue to the United States estimated at ()1l,000 annually; <br /> <br /> <br />estimated the first cost of the two reservoirs, constructed substantially <br /> <br />as proposed by the District Engineer, at 010,500,000; stated that the <br /> <br />improvements are well warranted by benefits that would accrue; and reconrrnrnd- <br /> <br />ed construction at an estimated first cost of 010,500,000, with $3,000 <br /> <br />annually for maintenance. <br /> <br />The Chief of Engineers, U. S. Axmy, after review and due <br /> <br />consideration of the foregoing mentioned reports and recommendations, <br /> <br />concurred in the views and reconunendations of the Board of Engineers for <br /> <br />Rivers and Harbors. <br /> <br />The Water Resources Committee of the National Resources <br /> <br />Planning Board, representing the Chief Federal agencies ooncurred with <br /> <br />water use and control, reviewed the reports and recommendations, comment- <br /> <br />ing that: <br /> <br />(1) "The pronslOn of additional reservoir storage <br />adequate to control maximum floods and <br />to provide irrigation benefits is an important <br />element in a program of water use and control <br />for the Cherry Creek drainage area." <br /> <br />(2) "The Conunittee does not take a position <br />with respect to the design assumptions, but <br />it points out that there is a difference of <br />opinion as to the assumed design units in <br />the reports on the project by the Corps of <br />Engineers and by the Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />(3) "The Conuni ttee notes that the Chis f of Engineers <br />reports that the sale of water for irrigation <br />should yield a revenue to the United States <br />estimated at about ()l1,OOO annually, and <br />suggests that the project be operated in such <br />nuumer as to insure repayment of that amount <br />by the water users." <br /> <br />-22- <br />
