<br />~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />EXIDBIT "A" <br /> <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br />TOWN OF WILEY <br />PROWERSCOUNTY,COLORADO <br />Flood Hazard Mitigation Feasibility Study <br /> <br />December 1, 1997 <br /> <br />Contractor <br />For the purposes of this project, the consulting engineer (Contractor) shall be the firm of Kiowa <br />Engineering, Inc. The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) is the project owner. The <br />maximum State funding to the Contractor for this project is $19.240. Of the total state funding, <br />$16,540 shall be used for engineering services , and $2,700 shall be used for surveys and <br />mapping. <br /> <br />Summary of Requested Work <br />The Contractor shall perform field investigations, technical analyses, report writing, and other <br />tasks necessary to complete selected portions of the desired engineering project. The engineering <br />project for this Scope of Work is the Flood Hazard Mitigation Feasibility Study (Project) for the <br />Town of Wiley and Prowers County, Colorado. Completion of this project will be performed <br />through a cooperative effort by the Contractor and the CWCB. Project assignments and <br />responsibilities are outlined in a later section of this Scope of Work. <br /> <br />Authoritv <br />According to Section 37-60-106(1)(c) of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board has the power and duty: <br /> <br />"u. to devise and formulate methods, means and plans for bringing about the <br />greater utilization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages <br />therefrom. . ." <br /> <br />Proiect Location <br />The project area is located in southeastern Colorado. Wiley is an incorporated community <br />within Prowers County, which is approximately 8 miles northwest of Lamar. A vicinity map of <br />the Wiley area is included in the attachments. <br /> <br />Watershed Description <br />The watershed of interest is the Wiley Drainage Ditch basin, which is within the Arkansas River <br />basin. The Wiley Drainage Ditch has a total drainage area of about 72 square miles at the <br />downstream end of town. Two irrigation canals, the Kicking Bird Canal and the Fort Lyon Canal, <br />traverse through the watershed, These canals complicate the hydrology of the basin. <br /> <br />1 <br />
