<br />1000 PLANTING <br /> <br />PART 1 <br /> <br />GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br /> <br />Furnish all plant backfill material, trees and shr'Jbs, fertil izer, labor, <br />equipment, and nonplant materials requil'ed to complete installation of <br />planting as indicated in the drawings. <br /> <br />1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />A. Inspection: <br /> <br />1. Plant materials shall be inspected by Owner's Representative at the <br />construction site. Plants that are not approved shall be replaced <br />with acceptable material by the Contractor, <br /> <br />2. Inspection at growing site does not preclude right of rejection at <br />construction site. <br /> <br />B. Plant Qualification and Protection: <br /> <br />1. Plants shall have a habit of gro1rith that is normal for the species <br />and shall be of sound hea'l th, 'Iigorous growth, and free from <br />insect pests, diseases, and injul'ies. An plants shall equal or <br />exceed the measurements specified in the Plant lists, which are <br />minimum acceptable sizes. They shall be measured and approved by <br />the Owner's Representative on sHe before pruning, with branches <br />in normal position. Any necessary prun'ing shall be done at the <br />time of planting. ReqlJirements for the measurement, branching, <br />grading, quality, balling, and blFlapping of plants shall equal or <br />exceed the code of standards currently recommended by the American <br />Association of Nurserymen. <br /> <br />2. Substitutions will not be pel^mitted without the written approval of <br />Owner's Representative. <br /> <br />3. Contractor shall submit written verification of plant stock orlgln <br />to assure northern hardiness of nursery grown plant materials <br />prior to planting. <br /> <br />4. Cover plants transported on open vehicles with a protective <br />covering to keep them from drying out and prevent wind burn. <br /> <br />5. Protection after delivery: Th" balls of burlapped plants which <br />cannot be planted immediately on del ivery shall be covered with <br />moist soil or mulch. All plants shall be watered as necessary <br />until planted. <br /> <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS <br /> <br />A. Submit plant 1 ist, 1 isting source of material, including orig'in if plants <br />are not grown in Colorado. <br />
