<br />900 SEEDING, EROSION CONTROL NETTING <br /> <br />The general provision of the Contract, includin'l the Conditions of the Contract <br />(General and Special Conditions) as appropriate, apply tc the work specified in <br />this section. <br /> <br />PART 1 <br /> <br />GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 WORK INCLUDED <br /> <br />A. Work in this section includes but is not limited to the following items: <br /> <br />1. Lower, mid and upper wetland zone seeding <br />2. Embankment and upland zone seeding <br />3. Establishment, maintanance and warranty of all new seed areas. <br />4. Erosion netting <br />5. Refer to drawings for all arNS designated as seeded. <br /> <br />1.03 COORDINATION <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Begin work only upon written notice of the Owner's Representative. <br />Site grading and soil preparation shall be completed and Contractor <br />shall have received written approval ,)1' gradin<j and soil preparation <br />prior to beginning seeding. <br /> <br />PART 2 <br /> <br />MATERIALS <br /> <br />2.02 SEED <br /> <br />A. All seed shall be furnished in bags or containers clearly labled to <br />show the name and address of the suppl ier, the seed name, the lot <br />number, net weight, the percent of weed seed content and the guaranteed <br />percentage of purity and germination. All brands furnished shall be <br />free from such noxious seeds as Russ'ian or Canadian Thistle, European <br />Bindweed, Johnson Grass and Leafy Spurg'? The Contractor shall furnish <br />to the Owner's Representative a signed statement certifying that the <br />seed furnished is from a lot that ~as been tested by a recognized <br />laboratory for seed testing within Ii months prior to the date of <br />del ivery. Seed which has become wet, moldy, or' otherwise damaged in <br />transit or in storage will not be accep~able. <br /> <br />B. Seed labe'ls shall conform to all current State and Federal regulations <br />and will be subject to the testing prJvisions of the Association of <br />Official Seed Analysis. <br /> <br />C. The seed shall have a mlnlmum germ"inotion and a maximum purity of <br />eighty-five (85%) percent. Seed shall not exceed 1% weed content. If <br />seed available on the market does not meet the minimum purity and <br />germination percentages specified, the Contractor must compensate for a <br />lesse~ percentage of purity or germination by furnishing sufficient <br />addltlonal seed to equal the sped fied product. Product comparison <br />shall be made on the basis of pure l'ive seed in pounds. The formula <br />used for determining the quantity of pure live seed (PLS) shall be: <br />
