100 EARTHWORK

100.1

All ea rthwork sha 11 be in accordance wHh the So il s Report prepa red by
Ground Engineering Consultants, Inc., titled "Soil and Foundation
Investigation, Proposed Trickle Channel and Drop Structures, Goldsmith
Gulch, South of Belleview Avenue, Greenwood Village, Colorado", dated April
23, 1986; Job No. 86-191. As discussed in the above mentioned Soils Report;

"Fills up to 15 feet in height can be used 'if the fill slopes do not exceed
3 horizontal to 1 vertical and the fills ar2 properly compacted and drained.
The ground surface underlying all fills should be carefully prepared by
removing all organic matter, scarification to a depth of 8 inches and
recompacting to 95% of the maximum standa.r'd Proctor density prior to fill
placement. All fill should be placed under controlled conditions and
compacted to at least 95% of the standard Proctor denSity. The onsite soils
exclusive of the organic material are suitable for reuse as backfi'll material.
The materials encountered in our investi,'ation appeared to be over the
optimum moisture content and will have to be dried out prior to compacting
them".

The following conditions shall apply for earthwork on this Project:

1.

The earth with organic matter shall be stripped (the top six (6) inches
minimum) and stockpiled away from thE area to be graded. After the
grading is complete, the strippings shall be spread out over the
portion to be seeded.

2.
3.

The contours shown on the Plans are to finished grade.

Excess excavated material generated by the excavation operation shall be
placed where shown on the Drawings and compacted as required under this
section.

4.

Special care shall be taken to seal off and otherwise abandon the
existing Goldsmith Gulch Tributary channel adjacent to but not within
the proposed church site. This care shall include, but not necessarily
be limited to, placement in the channel of a selected, impervious
material acquired from required excavation, and increasing the compaction
effort of this fill to 98% of maximum standard proctor denSity.

EROSION CONTROL PROVISIONS

The Contractor shall be required to take pos'itive steps to control
erosion during construction. Erosion control measures may include hay
bales, construction of temporary secl'iment traps, or leav'ing channel
inverts upstream of grade control structures below finished grade until
the conclusion of construction. The Contractor shall submit an erosion
control plan to the Engineer py'ior to construction for review and
comment. No separate measurement and payment shall be made for
development of an erosion control plan, but the cost of such is
subsidiay'y to all work on the project. The Contractor is advised that
he is working in a drainage channel subject to intermittent and extensive
runoff conditions, such that unless the construction area is properly
protected, extensive soil erosion milY occur., The Contractor is
