refinement process. Presented on Table 6-5 is aCO,1 estimate for the recommended
channel plans. The selected culvert lmpro\cmcnts are presented on Table 6-6. Shown on
Fi!!ure 6-1 are the locations of the various channel treatmems recommended for further
evaluation. Contained within the Technical Addendum to this report, is the alternative
hydrologic, hydraulic and cost data u>ed in the developmcnt and com parisonofeachof
the alternatives.
Di>cussion of Rccommended Plan
The recommendation of a particular method of treatment for each channcl
so:gmentthe flood hazard, habitat impacts, operations and maintenance, visual impact.
waterql.lality, and cost aspects have been weighed for each altemative c oncept. Further
refinement of the recommended concepts will be explored during the preliminary design
phase. The channel segment designations (e,g., DW,A-QI, etc.). are coded with the
drainageway name (OW or CC for Diny Woman and Crystal cr-eeks, respectively). the
reach, and the HEC-l channel segment number as shown of the Hydrology Map, Exhibit
I and 2.
DW-A-Ol through DW-A-03: F'Jr these St;gments selective improvements are
recommended for funher evaluation. The improvements to these segments include a
12'xlO' Concrete Box Culvert under Mitchell Street and an II'dO' Concrete Box Culvert
under the Old Denver Highway to carry the 100~year flow. Inlet and outlet
improvements are included for the CBe. Inlet improvemenl~ are proposw for the
Denv~f & Rio nr8nd~ w('stern Railrnarl midge. Improvements to Ihe outlet of the eBe
m the Old Denver Highway along with approximately 500 feet of channel are proposed.
The >cgmentsalso include the installation ofapproximatelyeightdr opstructures,
DW-A-04: For this >egment the floodplain preservation or do-nothing alternative
is recommended for further evaluation.
DW-A-OS throullh DW-A-06: For these segments selective Improvements are
recommended for further evaluation, Improvements to these segments include
appro:<;imately 1,540 fectof bank slope protection along with thIrteen drop strUctures.
Outlctstabiliz.uionattheHighway 105 bridge is al,o proposed.
UW-Il-07 throu~h DW-R-ll: For these segmeno; sele<:livc improvementS are
recommended for further evaluation, Tk improvements proposed for these segment>
include a l[}'x5'concrele box culvert at Somh Park Drive to carry the lO.yearflow, in
order to carry the l{l(l-yeartlows. triple 1O'x4'concretcoox cuh'crts have been proposed
for both the Lake Wooomonr Dri\'c and Augusta Drive crossings. Omlet stabilization
ha~ occn proposed for all three crossings, Ollllet protection along WIth roadway armoring
