<br />I <br />I <br /> (3 ) <br />I <br /> (4) <br />I (5) <br />I (6 ) <br /> (7) <br />I <br /> (8 ) <br />I (9) <br />I (10) <br />I 3-205 <br /> (1) <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />during periods of high hazard probability; <br /> <br />Building structures or any type development involving winter <br />use in a designated avalanche area; <br /> <br />Any type development where slope failure would result in <br />more than minimal damage; <br /> <br />Any type development in a designated rockfall-prone area; <br /> <br />Any type development in a designated mud flow area; <br /> <br />Any type development in a designated unstable or potentially <br />unstable slope area; <br /> <br />Any type development in designated seismic areas astride <br />known active faults; <br /> <br />Any type development in a designated radioactive area; and <br /> <br />Any type development in designated areas of extremely hazar- <br />dous, localized ground subsidence. <br /> <br />Conditional Uses <br /> <br />Land uses which are generally prohibited in a designated <br />geologic hazard area may be permitted if the following miti- <br />gation techniques specified in this section or other tech- <br />niques proven to be effective are carried out for uses within <br />each type of geologic hazard area indicated: <br /> <br />(a) Avalanche areas <br /> <br />(I) Artificial release of avalanche by explosive con- <br />trol or artillery shall not be considered an <br />acceptable mitigation technique for areas of <br />potential human occupancy. <br /> <br />(II) Structures designed to support the snow in the <br />starting zone may be an acceptable mitigation <br />technique if detailed technical data shows this <br />to be viable. <br /> <br />(III) st~uctural cont~ol in the ~"nout zone may be an <br />acceptable mitigation technique if supported by <br />proper technical evidence. Structural control <br />includes, among others, avalanche deflecting and <br />arresting structures and direct protection struc- <br />tures for individual buildings. <br /> <br />(b) Landslide areas <br /> <br />-7- <br />
