Platte Canyon Road to Nevada Ditch

Probable washout of Platte Canyon Ditch at ditch
crossing.

Flooding from overflows from Platte Canyon Ditch.

No confined existipg channel.

Shallow field wetted to 100 feet wide.

Excessive velocities with erosion potential at areas
above Nevada Ditch.

Probable washout of Nevada Ditch at ditch crossing.

Large volumes of runoff at gravel pits.

SOLUTIONS

Phase A of the Major Drainageway Plan gave conceptual designs
of alternative solutions to the existing and future flooding
problems. This final phase of the Major Drainageway Plan,
Phase B, presents in Chapter 6 the preliminary designs of the
selected alternative solutions.

The following list presents the possible alternative solutions
that were in the work contract for consideration in Phase A:

. Maintenance of the existing situation with no struc-
tural or new regulatory actions.

. A natural type waterway for the drainageway following
the general historic channel of the stream as deter-
mined from old aerial photographs, old mapping, and
local records.

. Installation of major underground conduits along the
general course of the historic stream channel, using
local rights-of-way wherever possible.

. Relocation of channel to routes other than historic
channel.

5-5
