Denver, 1986
B.S., Civil Engineering, University of Tennessee, 1979

REGISTRA nON

Professional Engineer, 1984, Colorado #2218]

EXPERIENCE

A registered professional engineer, Mr. Rindahl has more than 17 years experience in a wide variety
of water resource disciplines. Much of his experience is in the area of water supply planning an.d
water rights. He also has extensive experience in optimization of water resource systems, design and
integration of computer models, geographical information systems and their UStl in water resource
applications, floodplain analysis and development criteria and design review.

Aurora Water Supply System Model, Aurora, Colorado. Designed and built new water supply
and water operations model for the City of Aurora. Model included all reservoirs and water supply
sources including delivery obligations, physical constraints, and drought conservation measures.
The entire model was developed in a spreadsheet fonnat for ease of use and analysis and can utilize
any time step desired. A modular approach was used to allow for ease of expansion and the supply
data was integrated with the city's relational database for automatic updates. An optimization
module was included to maximize the potential deliveries from the system and allowed simple
comparisons of alternative water supply SOurCtlS and operation rul~s. The optimization module was
further enhanced to allow for discrete optimization over a selech:d time period then iterated over the
entire study period.

Cherry Creek Reservoir Analysis, Aurora, Colorado. Analyzed potential storage yields utilizing
a proposed storage account in Cherry Creek Rf:servoir. Developed water rights and supply model to
estimate daily storage, pumping, and augmentation for the City of Aurora over a forty-year study
period. The results of the model was key in negotiating the potentialleasc of the storage space in the
reservoir.

Antero Reservoir Expansion, South Park, Colorado. Modified an existing water operations
model to predict the effect of a cooperative effort to f:xpand the existing Antero Reservoir owned by
the Denver Water Board. The Preliminary result of the study was the basis of ongoing negotiations
between the City of Aurora and the Denver Water Board.

Water Rights Optimization, Aurora, Colorado. Developed two linear programs for the City of
Aurora to maximize the yield of their water operatioJl1tS. The models find the maximum combination
of over one hundred and forty water rights on a daily basis and are integrated with the city's GIS
system and diversion database. The models have befm estimated to increase the yield to the City of
Aurora in the amount of 200 acre-feet per year.

Water Rights Yield Study, Erie, Colorado. Developed model ofthe daily pot<:ntial yields of both
the Lower Boulder and Leyner-Cottonwood Ditches for the Town of Erie. The results of the models
were used to evaluate the value to the Town of Erie prior to purchase.

1999 Flood Documentation Report
HDR Engineering, Inc.

~''''''.
-'/ijS;-";'
III _~;Q ~ '~"
..\-..,~;...:,'.:
"'t.~~~,
~~{H~:'
