<br />Results of the hydrologic analyses were coordinated with the COE, <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) , ARIX Consultants, <br />Claycomb Engineering Associates, Inc., and the U.S. Geological <br />Survey (USGS). <br /> <br />In January 1984, the results of the study were reviewed at an <br />intermediate coordination meeting attended by representatives of <br />the study contractor, FEMA, and Garfield County. <br /> <br />2.0 AREA STUDIED <br /> <br />2.1 Scope of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study covers the unincorporated areas of Garfield <br />County, Colorado. The area of study is shown on the Vicinity Map <br />(Figure 1). <br /> <br />Areas within the county that were not included in this study are <br />the incorporated Towns of Carbondale, Parachute, and Silt and the <br />incorporated Cities of Glenwood Springs, New Castle, and Rifle. <br /> <br />The following streams were studied by detailed methods: <br /> <br />Colorado River, segments at Rifle, New Castle, and Glenwood <br />Springs <br /> <br />Roaring Fork River, from its confluence with the Colorado <br />River to approximately 17 miles upstream <br /> <br />Crystal River, from its confluence with the Roaring Fork <br />River to approximately 4.2 miles upstream <br /> <br />Cattle Creek, from its confluence with the Roaring Fork River <br />to approximately 4.8 miles upstream <br /> <br />Fourmile Creek, from its confluence with the Roaring Fork <br />River to approximately 6.7 miles upstream <br /> <br />Threemile Creek, from its confluence with the Roaring Fork <br />River to approximately 1 mile upstream <br /> <br />Mitchell Creek, from its confluence with the Colorado River <br />to approximately 1.8 miles upstream <br /> <br />Rifle Creek, from a point just above its confluence with the <br />Colorado River to approximately 12.5 miles upstream <br /> <br />Rifle Creek Splitflow, from the corporate limits of Rifle to <br />its divergence from Rifle Creek <br /> <br />Hubbard Gulch, from the corporate limits of Rifle to approxi- <br />mately 2.4 miles upstream <br /> <br />2 <br />
