One timber bridge i. <br />eligible for the NRHP; one is not e1igib1.. <br /> <br />STUDY AllEA DESCIlIPTION <br /> <br />Ka1ta is located in central Phillip. County in north-central Montana. <br />Mo.t of Ka1ts proper is on the right bank of the Milk liv.r. The 1.ft <br />bank, on the north side of Ka1ts, ba. .~ residential development and a <br />few commercial activities. U.S. Highway 2 provide. all-weather acce.. <br />for the city across the northern tier of the State. U.S. Highway 191 <br />carries traffic to points south, whil. State Highway 242 travels north to <br />the Canadian border. The Burlington Northern Reilroad (BNlll), which <br />passes through the city, is aligned parallel with U.S. Highway 2. Ka1ta <br />also has a well maintained airport for private aircraft as well as charter <br />air servic!!s. The city .erves as a trading center for the lurrounding <br />agricultural area and also providel gov.rnment lervicel.
