STUDY AllEA DESCIlIPTION Ka1ta is located in central Phillip. County in north-central Montana. Mo.t of Ka1ts proper is on the right bank of the Milk liv.r. The 1.ft bank, on the north side of Ka1ts, ba. .~ residential development and a few commercial activities. U.S. Highway 2 provide. all-weather acce.. for the city across the northern tier of the State. U.S. Highway 191 carries traffic to points south, whil. State Highway 242 travels north to the Canadian border. The Burlington Northern Reilroad (BNlll), which passes through the city, is aligned parallel with U.S. Highway 2. Ka1ta also has a well maintained airport for private aircraft as well as charter air servic!!s.
