WHEREAS, CWCB staff is aware that a number of floodplain revisions are needed within the
City of Rifle to ensure that accurate information is available for floodplain management and flood
insurance purposes.

DESIGNATION AND APPROVAL ACTION

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in
regular meeting assembled in Cortez, Colorado, this 24th day of September 2001, that it does hereby
acknowledge and rescind as detailed and approximate floodplain information said 100-year floodplain
delineations within the incorporated areas of the City of Rifle contained in said report entitled "Flood
Insurance Study, City of Rifle, Colorado" dated December 1982 by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conservation Board that the floodplain
information found in the 1986 Flood Insurance Study for the City of Rifle (CWCB floodplain
resolution # 245) is the current and effective regulatory floodplain map for Rifle; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conservation Board that the City of
Rifle is in need of updated and revised floodplain mapping throughout portions of the community and
therefore the CWCB will include the City of Rifle on the Colorado floodplain mapping priorities list;
and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Board is directed to send a certified
copy of this resolution to the City of Rifle and the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region 8.
