Encourage hazard formats and techniques for preparing and delivering information (mapping, <br />etc.) that will enhance incorporation of hazards management into local land use management <br />and infrastructure planning procedures <br /> <br />. In partnership with local and state governments, create guidelines for measuring quality of local <br />hazards information (unacceptable, marginally acceptable, good, superiory so states and local <br />governments can evaluate the deficiencies in their current information and plan to strive for <br />better information; utilizing these guidelines, states will evaluate the quality of hazards <br />information for each community within their state <br /> <br />. Develop stronger partnerships with local and state governments for funding, planning and <br />completion of new and revised hazards information and for statewide seminars and workshops <br />to better prepare local, tribal, state and federal officials for response and recovery operations <br />and pre- flood planning <br /> <br />. Mandate the use of available hazards information (NFIP maps and non-NFIP maps alike) in <br />real estate purchase transactions <br /> <br />. Mandate local-level risk management policies and plans in order to receive state and federal <br />funding assistance; provide increased incentives for development and adoption of state and <br />local hazard mitigation plans <br /> <br />. Require locals to develop realistic risk and mitigation plans that can be seamlessly <br />implemented as-needed and are readily available via the Internet and other media. <br /> <br />. Improve real-time data collection capabilities and increase the density of precipitation and <br />streamflow gages (automated stations) for use in design, warning and response <br /> <br />. Take advantage of satellite imagery and other new technologies to monitor geographic and <br />other information related to natural hazards, technological hazards, and terrorism <br /> <br />2 <br />
