-5-

.

9. "continued"

one to four feet lower than their elevations.
This difference might be accounted for. due
to the fact that there is heavy vegetation
in this area.

10. Battlement Mesa

ASI's photography was taken when the leaves were
off of the trees. If Nichol's photography
had a lot of leaves on it, it would have made
the ground difficult to see.

Horizontally, the grids did not match. The same
grid system was used on this project and the
Roan Creek (Getty Oi 1) mappi ng done by Inter-
mountain Technical Services. We had a~X of
apprDx. - 470 feet, and a ~Y of -165 feet.

C.V.I. used the same control point to tie into
this project as they did in the Roan Creek
(Getty Oil) project. C.V.I. came up with.a
~X= -471.44 feet,~Y=-171.50 feet andll.Z=+0.09
feet. The differences in the coordinates for
control point DHY-13 were due to the fact that
C.V.I.'s coordinates were based on sea level,
while Nichol's coordinates are based on a
modified horizontal grid system.

This mapping was compiled by Gingery and
Associates at a scale of1 "=50' and a 2 foot
contour interval.

.

Vertically the maps seemed to tie to within
1 one foot. Since the two projects were plotted
at different scales, the elevations had to be
interpolated at specific points of detail tD
see how the maps compared.

Horizontally, the two projects had a shift
in the grid systems. ASI came up with a ll.X of
approximately -7 feet and a ~ of approximately
+37 feet. .

C.V.I. used the horizontal grid system that
was used in the Parachute area. C.V.I. couldn't
recover any of the control points that were
used in the previous mapping.

.

Vertically C.V.I. tied into point 7t. C.V.I.'s
elevation was 5107.14' while Western States
elevation was 5107.51'. John Love1ette
wasn't sure if Western State surveyed the re-bar
or the ground.
